Dr. Carpenter has over 30 years of atomic physics and systems-modeling experience, in parallel with 20 years of education research. He has a Doctorate in Computer Information Systems, and an MBA in Technology Management. As a scientist doing applied research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, he studied complex natural systems. He co-architected and implemented the wisdom-management-system known as FAST while at Sun Microsystems. As Chief Science and Technology Officer at NuForensics, Inc., he developed radiation-detection technology. He has taught graduate courses at the University of Phoenix as well as experimental classes with children and adults ranging from ages 5 to 50, and he incorporates into his lessons his new theory about human acquisition of new understanding. He has authored over 30 publications on these topics. Dr. Carpenter finds that children from the 3rd grade can understand principles of big data analysis, knowledge integration, and entrepreneurship and innovation. Dr. Carpenter is committed to applying his top-down education model so that children can learn from an early age to succeed in the Age of Ubiquitous Artificial Intelligence (U.A.I.) in the 2020s, and so that all of us learn to be the master of the machine rather than its slave.
